Posillico Civil Recognized in New York Construction Mag
Award of Merit for County Route 3/Wellwood Avenue Bridge Widening Over Southern State Parkway - New York Construction Magazine convened a panel of distinguished judges and experts from across the region, representing different states, firms, associations and disciplines to select the Best Projects in 2009 from nearly 150 total submissions. As a result, Posillico Civil received a merit award for County Route 3/Wellwood Avenue bridge widening over Southern State Parkway in West Babylon, New York.
The winning project scope included widening and renovating the Wellwood Avenue Bridge and extending the acceleration and deceleration ramps on the Southern State Parkway. Posillico’s proposal and accepted value engineering reduced the number of stages required to erect the beams using temporary steel bracing supports. The temporary steel bracing supports eliminated the need for temporary support towers which would have been placed on the Southern State Parkway. This in turn reduced the need for multiple shifts of traffic on the Southern State Parkway and reduced moving concrete barriers and re-striping. Posillico’s ingenuity saved money, time and inconvenience to the traveling public.
