Project Engineer, Civil or Environmental
Position Outline:
The Project Engineer tracks and maintains records that are associated with costs, deliveries, and payroll at the job site. In addition, tracks and maintains all safety communications, manuals and records.
Safety:
- Maintain a file listing topics and attendees to Tool Box Safety Talks.
- Maintain a file for One Call Center requests.
- Maintain a retrievable filing system for the Hazardous Communication Program - MSDS.
- Maintain the Project Safety Manual.
Payments:
- Perform daily Quantity Review with Superintendent and Job Foreman.
- Enter daily quantities into system and file daily sheets.
- Track completion of work on project plans.
- Perform monthly review of estimates with job Superintendent.
- Maintain a file, tracking all extra work.
- Notify Project Manager or Area Manager of anticipated overruns/under runs.
- Request a copy of Final Estimate with each monthly estimate and send to Area Manager - State DOT projects only.
Daily Logs:
- Maintain General correspondence file with correspondence log.
- Maintain Shop Drawing Log.
- Maintain Subcontractor daily log.
- Maintain Delivery log.
- Accurately track Asphalt delivered verses the Quantity paid for.
Note: When tracking Shop Drawings and Submissions, if a response is not received within two weeks of a submittal; make a telephone call to Fred Locher to find out the current status of a required submission and why it has not been made.
Certified Payroll, EEO, Champs, Trainee Reports:
- The Project Engineer is to keep track of all subcontractors that worked on the project for the month utilizing the Subcontractor daily log. At the end of each month, the Project Engineer is to send a copy of the Sub Log to Payroll. If there are any delays, notify the Area Manager as soon as possible.
Miscellaneous:
- Maintain Job Records.
- Track Job Codes using Phase Code System.
- Maintain the Request For Information (RFI) to the owner.
Skills & Aptitude:
- B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with 1 to 3 years of related experience.
- Experience in Heavy Construction (site-work, roads or environmental).
- Must be capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, detail oriented; have above average interpersonal skills and have excellent follow-through capability.
- Verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position.
- Ability to performed effectively in a fast paced environment; able to accurately process written documents, perform duties in a timely manner, be highly organized and able to interface; communicate effectively with company, clients and field personnel at all levels.
