• Project Overview
The project included the completion of the LIE HOV contract that was defaulted on by the original low bidder. We negotiated a contract with the bonding company that met their financial requirements and the stringent schedule requirements of the NYSDOT. The original total contract amount was approximately 220 million dollars. Prior to our involvement, the project was only 75% complete and already past the original contractor's anticipated completion date. |

• What made this job complex
Within 3 months, we needed to complete 125,000 tons of asphalt paving, correct millions of dollars of deficient work of the former contractor, coordinate and direct a multitude of weary subcontractors to complete various highway landscape, electrical, sign, guardrail, and misc other work, and ultimately rescue the traveling public from the poor traffic conditions that were created by the defaulted contractor. |

We brought to bear all of our company's resources and local influence to bring this project to a successful conclusion. All of the parties involved were brought to the table and convinced of the necessity and possibility of a timely and satisfactory completion. Unions, local communities, the bonding company, the NYSDOT, subcontractors, vendors, and the traveling public had to be convinced that the task could be completed to everyone's satisfaction so that they would all work together in solving the problem. They all bought in and then we got the job done on time. |
